The Hillsboro Youth Football Association consists of three different leagues:
- Tailback League - Boys and girls ages 6, 7 & 8
- Quarterback League - Boys and girls ages 9 & 10
- Halfback League - Boys and girls ages 11 & 12
(Age cut off is July 31st)
Generally speaking, the football season starts in late July with football and cheerleading camp, weekly
practice and equipment handout and ends in mid-November with the year-end banquet.
Registration
In order to play football or cheer, each player must be registered. Registration takes place in late May through
July. Each player is required to fill out a registration form and pay the registration fee of $135.00 for football and $75.00
for cheerleading. Dates for 2008 registriation will be posted in the announcement tab. July 15th at the Jr. High.
6pm to 8pm
Upon registration, each player will receive 40 raffle tickets. The cost of the Raffle is $40.00. The player
is encouraged to sell the raffle tickets to friends, family and neighbors. The player may collect $1 for each raffle ticket
sold and keep this money to offset a portion (up to $40) of the registration fee. The player should give to each person that
purchases a raffle ticket the portion of the ticket that says “Keep This” and turn in the other portion of the
ticket by the raffle ticket due date ( see announcement for specific dates ). Those who purchase tickets can win
cash prizes of up to $200.00.
Part of the funds from the raffle ticket sales purchase game jerseys with the players name and number. The
player keeps the jersey at the end of the year.
Football and Cheerleading Camp
Camp is held July 21st, 22nd and 23rd 6pm to 8pm at the Hillsboro Football Grass field behind the
Intermediate. The camp is free and requires no registration. Camp lasts two evenings for two hours weather permitting.
Football and Cheerleading Practice
General practice sessions begin in late July or early August. Before the draft, players practice by age group.
After the draft, the players are assigned to teams and team practices begin. Practices occur each Tuesday and Thursday from
6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, weather permitting. The practices are held at Hillsboro Grass football field. Some coaches may hold
extra practices on Wednesday or Saturday before the games begin. Check with your coach for details. Cheerleading practice
is 6:00pm to 7:45pm every Tuesday and Thursday through out the entire season.
A player may not participate in contact during practice until he/she has picked up equipment. Additionally,
a player will not be allowed to participate in contact practice or games without his/her own protective mouthpiece.
Equipment and Deposit
Once a player has registered, and paid the equipment deposit he/she can pickup equipment .
Football equipment Deposit is $150.00. Cheerleading uniform Deposit is $75.00
The Equipment Deposit is not cashed unless equipment is not returned on date of return date.
The following equipment is issued and must be returned at the end of the season:
- Helmet
- Chin strap
- Football pants
- Shoulder pads
- Other sets of pads that are inserted into the pants
In addition to the above set of equipment, a player must provide his/her own:
- Protective mouthpiece ( required )
- Protective athletic cup (optional)
- Rubber football cleats ( recommended )
- Practice jersey(ies) ( recommended)
- Practice football pants ( recommended )
All equipment except for the player’s football jersey and those items the player purchased must be returned
at the end of the season.
Cheerleading Uniform
Uniform is provided but must be returned by the end of the season.

Games
Games begin in early September ( see schedule tab for schedule and game locations ) and are played each
Saturday and some Sundays throughout mid-November.
Games are played at various times and locations. Consult your team’s schedule to find out the date,
time and location of each game.
All teams participate in the playoffs at the end of the season where the goal is to win the Super Bowl.
Banquet
The season concludes in mid-November with the annual banquet. Player’s and their families are encouraged
to attend. Tickets must be purchased to attend the banquet which includes dinner and an awards ceremony.
