                HILLSBORO YOUTH CHEERLEADING

Practice

We teach the cheerleaders vary cheers, a halftime routine and a super bowl routine.   We are as structured as possible.  The first couple of practice I try to keep complete control of the girls I may come off a little tough but this has to happen in the beginning so the rest of the season goes smooth.  Practice begins at 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm every Tuesday and Thursday.   We learn 30 cheers and a half time dance by the first weekend of September so we need the cheerleaders to come to every practice on time.   PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOU CHEERLEADER TO PRACTICE SICK.  The same rules apply from school to practice and games 24 hr fever free.    Please have the cheerleader bring a water and towel to practice.   Please pick up all your trash after practice.  After practice please come down to the track and pick up your daughter each girl need a dismissal from me or Coach Rhonda.

Uniform

Please keep uniform clean.  Wash uniform in warm water and tumble dry.  Please do not use fabric softener.  The uniform deposit is for the return of the uniform IN GOOD SHAPE.   The uniform is to be worn to school the Friday before Game Day and on Game Day only.  Please do not take the poms to school.  The uniform is the Shell, Skirt, Spankies and Poms.  Please do not allow the cheerleaders to wear the uniform ever without spankies.

Game Day

Please have the cheerleaders arrive 20 mins prior to game time.  Please have the cheerleader in uniform with their hair pulled in a ponytail or back out of their face.  They need to wear tennis shoe (white preferable) with white socks.   Parents need to sit on the bleachers, please pick up your trash when you leave.   Only the Squad Leader Moms are allowed down on the track with the cheerleader.   Cheerleaders are not allowed food or snacks during game time.    During cold weather the girls are allowed to wear all white under their shell and skirt.   No loose clothing under uniform.   Direction to the other field locations is on the website at www.thehillsboroyouthfootballandcheer.com   Picture Day is Game Day.  You will be told what time to arrive for pictures.

Fundraiser

We will have a fundraiser.   Each cheerleader will receive 4 coupon books they have misc. coupons in it.  They are to be sold for $10.00 a piece.  The cheerleader that sells the most coupon books will receive a uniform, poms and a cheerleading bag with goodies in it.  If additional coupon books are wanted I will hand them out at the end of each practice.   With the money we collect for the fundraiser we get each Cheerleader a Jacket with their first name on the front and screen printed on the back Hillsboro Cheerleading.

Super bowl Routine

The super bowl is the last game of the year.  This is usually around November 15.   The cheerleaders are taught a routine that they perform at the super bowl.  We start teaching the super bowl after the first game.   An instructional DVD will be giving to each Cheerleader also we go over the routine at each practice.   A $5.00 fee will be collected for pizza and soda for lunch.  The super bowl is during very cold weather so the girls will need to wear white under the uniform.  I will be bringing a couple of items that are the best to wear under the uniform.

Squad Leader Moms

The squad Leader Mom is responsible for the girls during the games.  The beginning of the game they are responsible to get the girls down by the goal post by the football players then they sit down on the track by the girls and tell the girls what cheer to do next.  They also get the girls and the music ready for the half time show and have the girls clap hands after each game by lining up behind the football players.   The Squad leader is in control not the cheerleaders.  The cheerleaders need to stay in formation and are not allowed at any time to go to their mom.  If you are the Squad Leader and your own daughter will not stay in formation or wants to call the cheers this is not fair to the other girls so then you need to have someone else be the Squad Leader.  If you are interested in being a Squad Leader Mom please email me at www.hillsboroyouthfootballandcheer@lycos.com

The Hillsboro Youth cheerleading program is divided into 2 groups: Junior Varsity for ages 6 - 10 and Varsity for ages 11 - 12. Cheerleaders must be at least age 6 and no older than age 12 prior to July 31 to participate in the program. We do not require tryouts, therefore, everyone can cheer!  They are taught many cheers, chants, jumps, motions, a half time show and a superbowl routine through out the season.

Junior Varsity
Junior Varsity cheerleaders cheer for the Tailback (6, 7 & 8), Quarterback (9 & 10), and Halfback (11 & 12) football teams. If a JV cheerleader has a sibling playing on one of these teams then the JV cheerleader will be automatically placed on that team's squad. Although the JV cheerleaders practice together, the group is divided up amongst the numerous TB, QB and HB football teams into individual squads. Each squad then performs during their team's game which is usually played on Saturdays. The last game of the season is our Superbowl game. At every halftime of every game played at our home field or away, the Junior Varsity cheerleaders perform a pom-pon/dance routine.

Varsity  I am sorry but we will not have a Varsity Team this year.
Varsity cheerleaders only cheer for the Tailback team (or the available team with no siblings).  The varsity girls are taught as they would in jr. high school.

Cheerleading Uniforms
The Hillsboro Youth Cheerleading provides each Junior Varsity and Varsity cheerleader with a set of poms, skirt and a shell. Each cheerleader is responsible for their own bloomers, shoes, socks, and any other accessories required throughout the season.   Uniforms are returned at the end of the season.
